According to the latest edition of the EY European Attractiveness Survey, Portugal ranked as the 9th most attractive country in Europe for FDI, based on the number of projects announced in 2025. The results reinforce Portugal’s strong international competitiveness, strategic location, skilled talent base, and growing position as a hub for innovation, technology, renewable energy, and sustainable industries.
Belfius opens a Technology & Operations Hub in Lisbon

The Belgian bank Belfius has announced the launch of a new Technology & Operations hub in Lisbon with digital and operational capabilities. Developed in partnership with Accenture, the hub will drive innovation and deliver customer-focused solutions across Europe, with plans to grow to around 500 employees. Portugal was selected due to its strong technology talent pool, competitive business environment, and rapidly expanding digital ecosystem.
mc2i opens a new office in Lisbon

French consulting firm mc2i has announced the opening of a new office in Portugal, marking another step in its international growth. The new location will enable the firm to better support clients in delivering complex, large-scale strategic transformation programs across industries, while creating 100 new jobs.
SRAM announces new full-product manufacturing facility in Coimbra

U.S.-based bicycle components manufacturer SRAM has announced plans to build a new 25,000-square-meter manufacturing facility in Coimbra, reinforcing its long-term commitment to Europe and expanding its global production network. The new site will enable the local production of SRAM’s full component portfolio, with assembly, testing, and quality operations all based in Portugal. SRAM already operates a facility in Coimbra, where it manufactures bicycle chains and produces Zipp wheels and TIME Sport pedals. The site currently employs more than 300 people. The expansion is expected to create over 500 highly skilled jobs across manufacturing, engineering, quality, and operations.
Natixis inaugurates its Lisbon office

Natixis has inaugurated a new competence centre in Lisbon, reinforcing Portugal’s strategic role within the growth plans of Groupe BPCE following its acquisition of Novobanco. The new office, complementing the Group’s existing location in Porto, will support the Group’s activities in IT, investment banking, risk management and innovation. With more than 3.000 employees already based in Portugal, this expansion creates new opportunities for highly skilled talent.

36 years of Continental in Portugal

Continental Mabor, part of the Continental Group since 1990, employs around 2,800 people and has an annual production capacity of more than 19.5 million tyres in Lousado, North of Portugal. The company continues to invest in expanding and modernizing the site, reinforcing its role as one of Continental’s key European production hubs. In 2026, it also signed a partnership with local authorities and FORAVE to support talent development in advanced industrial skills. Continental is Portugal’s 4th largest exporter.
University of Porto partners with Axiom Space in space initiative
University of Porto partnered with Houston-based commercial space infrastructure company Axiom Space, to advance research and education in the emerging field of space habitation. The partnership will focus on architecture, design, and human living environments beyond Earth, contributing to the development of sustainable habitats for future space missions and settlements.
