NKT has inaugurated the expansion of its power cable factory in Esposende, following an investment of €50 million. The project increases production capacity for medium- and high-voltage cables, helping meet demand associated with the modernisation of electricity grids and the energy transition.
The expansion has brought more than 150 additional employees into the workforce, taking the factory’s total headcount to around 580. The investment included new production lines, equipment, technological capabilities and testing facilities.
Previously known as SolidAl, the factory was acquired by NKT in June 2024 and began operating under the Danish group’s brand in June 2025. The additional production capacity will be brought into operation gradually over the coming months.
