The International Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratory (INL) will host the INL Innovation Open Day 2026 on 5 November at its headquarters in Braga, bringing together researchers, companies, spin-outs and public institutions to explore technologies with market potential.
Under the motto “Connecting Science, Industry, and Impactful Innovation”, the event will focus on technology transfer, strategic partnerships and applied research in nanotechnology, advanced materials and semiconductors, with applications in energy, the environment, food and health.
Five INL spin-outs — RubyNanoMed, iPlexmed, Exognis, Ray Sense Technologies and Bracara Photonics — will present technologies they are bringing to market. The programme will also feature a keynote by Sascha Quanz, Professor of Physics at ETH Zürich, on the search for life in the universe.
Other sessions will explore industrial access to research and technology infrastructures, micro- and nanofabrication, advanced microscopy, semiconductor technologies, quantum pilot lines and artificial intelligence. The afternoon programme will address growth opportunities, including the EU Startup and Scaleup Strategy and the RESOLVE initiative presented by the Fraunhofer Microelectronics Group.
Participants can choose from guided tours of INL’s facilities, pre-arranged Business-to-Researcher meetings with INL researchers, or live demonstrations of technologies and prototypes, including projects developed under Portugal’s Recovery and Resilience Plan with EU funding.
The event aims to strengthen links between research and industry and demonstrate how scientific advances can generate economic, technological and societal impact. Registration is open through the event page, where participants can consult the full programme and select their preferred activities.
