The European Commission presented a new EU Sustainable Tourism Strategy on 4 November, aimed at strengthening the sector's competitiveness, sustainability and resilience, while consolidating Europe's position as the world's leading tourism destination.
The strategy seeks to support business growth and skills development among tourism professionals, while helping destinations diversify their tourism offering and achieve a better balance between tourism activity and the needs of local communities.
The initiative also aims to improve travellers' experiences and promote a more sustainable and resilient tourism model, reinforcing Europe's ability to maintain its leading position in the global tourism market.
