Portugal has been announced as the Partner Country for Smart Country Convention (SCCON) 2026, Europe's leading event for digital government, public sector transformation and smart cities, taking place in Berlin from 13–15 October.
Coordinated by AICEP Portugal Trade & Invest, in partnership with the Agency for the State Technological Reform (ARTE), Portugal's participation will showcase the country's achievements in digital transformation and strengthen its position as one of Europe's leading digital nations. The programme will feature high-level institutional participation, thematic sessions, workshops, networking events and an exhibition area highlighting innovative Portuguese digital solutions with international potential.
The event also represents a strategic opportunity to deepen economic and technological cooperation between Portugal and Germany, promote Portuguese companies in one of their most important export markets and attract foreign investment. Germany currently accounts for around 18% of Portugal's digital economy exports, with the sector recording annual growth of more than 34%.
Portugal's participation supports the objectives of the National Digital Strategy, reinforcing the country's ambition to become a Leading Digital Nation and strengthening its international profile as a European hub for innovation, talent, investment and technological development.
Organised by Bitkom and Messe Berlin, SCCON is Europe's flagship event for digital government and GovTech. The 2025 edition attracted more than 23,000 participants, over 500 partners and 800 speakers.
