The Mozambican President, Daniel Chapo, begins today a four-day official visit to Portugal at the invitation of his Portuguese counterpart to strengthen bilateral cooperation and promote investment opportunities in Mozambique, marking his third trip there since December. According to a statement from the Presidency of the Republic, the visit takes place between July 14 and 17, fitting into the strengthening of historical relations of friendship, solidarity, and cooperation between Mozambique and Portugal.
During the visit, Daniel Chapo will hold working meetings with the President of the Portuguese Republic, António José Seguro, and with the Portuguese Prime Minister, Luís Montenegro, among other Portuguese entities, aiming to deepen bilateral cooperation in areas of common interest and consolidate the strategic partnership between the two countries.
The Mozambican Head of State will also participate on Wednesday, as guest of honor, in the opening session of the ninth edition of the EurAfrican Forum, organized by the Portuguese Diaspora Council, under the motto “Africa on the Rise: Prosperity through Global Cooperation.” According to the Mozambican Presidency, Daniel Chapo’s intervention at the meeting is part of efforts to promote dialogue between Africa, Europe, and other international partners surrounding themes related to investment, sustainable development, and economic integration. The statement adds that the visit is an opportunity to reinforce political, economic, and business cooperation ties between Mozambique and Portugal, as well as to promote the country’s economic potential to international investors and partners.
During the trip to Portugal, Daniel Chapo will be accompanied by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Maria Manuela dos Santos Lucas, and the Minister of Transport and Logistics, João Jorge Matlombe, in addition to officials from the Presidency of the Republic and other State institutions.
