The Paranal Observatory in Chile, which is part of the European Southern Observatory (ESO), will have another telescope in 2025, but it will be entirely made in Portugal.
The agreement to install this new PoET solar telescope at the Paranal Observatory was signed by the director general of the European Southern Observatory (ESO) and the board of the Astrophysics Centre of the University of Porto (CAUP1), as the host institution of the University of Porto's branch of the Institute of Astrophysics and Space Sciences (IA2).
It's called PoET (Paranal Solar Espresso Telescope) and it's a solar telescope made in Portugal, which is expected to start operating in the summer of 2025.
