The best countries in the world for foreigners
The first European country in the ranking appears in fourth place:
Spain was considered the 4th best country for foreigners, topping the index that measures quality of life. The top 5 is completed by Colombia.
High quality of life in Portugal
Portugal is in 15th place, having fallen in some of the indicators assessed in this ranking. On the one hand, the indices of quality of life (7th place), personal finances (13th), and ease of integration (15th) continue to show
good performance for Portugal.
However, the indicator focusing on working abroad, as well as the index of the most relevant factors for expatriates (such as housing, digital services, and language), received a
poorer evaluation, causing the respondents' overall happiness with life in Portugal to lose its top 5 position.
Foreigners living in Portugal complain about the
lack of career opportunities and the bureaucracies they face when trying to work in the country.
The worst countries for foreigners
In this ranking, which included 12,000 people from 175 nationalities, the
last place went to Kuwait, while Turkey was 52nd and Finland was 51st, the latter representing the biggest drop in the index this year, from 16th to 51st, due to difficulties in integration and a poor evaluation of personal finances.
InterNations is headquartered in Munich, Germany, and is one of the largest communities of expatriates in the world, with over 5.3 million members.
