According to the Portugal Business News, the Mateo New York designer jewelry brand just opened a flagship store in Lisbon, in collaboration with Vogue Portugal.The new Mateo New York jewelry store just opened in Lisbon’s exclusive location at Praça do Príncipe Real 24. The 75.3m2 store was designed with signature Portuguese motifs blended with cozy elements such as a fireplace and a seating area.
Mateo customers in Lisbon are welcomed in the living room, where the white minimalist décor enhances a treasure trove of jewelry crafted with gold, silver, diamonds and other precious stones.
The Lisbon Mateo store includes a second space, the Salon, where customers discover a typical Portuguese décor with azulejos tiles portraying the Tagus River and the Torre de Belém architecture. The Salon is furnished with vintage pieces and warm yellow curtains that are reminiscent of typical Portuguese Manor Houses.
The top floor of Lisbon’s Mateo jewelry store, the Mezzanine, opens up to a beautiful garden view of Jardim França Borges while the décor is more sophisticated.
“In recent years, Lisbon has been under the radar of most luxury brands” according to Matthew Harris, the founder and creative director of Mateo, who explained why choosing Portugal’s capital was a natural step towards the expansion of the US designer brand.
