According to Portugal Business News, Portuguese exports of vegetables, fruits and flowers grew by 13.4% for the first half of 2024 compared to the same period in 2023, according to the sector association Portugal Fresh.
The exceptional growth in exports of vegetables, fruits and flowers from Portugal is due to the continuous innovation of Portuguese companies, that have invested in technology, sustainability and efficiency to raise the quality standards of their products.
Since Portugal’s agricultural sector is heavily dependent on water resources, the sector association Portugal Fresh is advocating for the creation of a Green route by building ponds, water reservoirs and dams.
The Joint Internationalization Project, that will be implemented by Portugal’s agricultural association Portugal Fresh by 2025, is supported by the Portugal 2030. The “Operational Program for Competitiveness and Internationalization” has an investment of 1,561,663 euros, out of which 48.8% will be funded by the ERDF – European Regional Development Fund.
