Barros, the Port house founded in 1913, is celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Portuguese revolution on the 25th of April of 1974 with the launch of a special edition of the 1974 Colheita.
In collaboration with Portuguese artist Teresa Rego, the brand is celebrating Portuguese talent by creating special packaging that reflects the interpretation of this historic milestone.
As a centenary expression of a unique Portuguese talent, an essential feature of its personality, a witness and ambassador of the national history it has accompanied for more than 100 years, Barros is celebrating the 50th anniversary of Freedom with the launch of an edition of its 1974 Port Wine in a different, special authorial guise.
The packaging celebrating the 50th anniversary of 25 April seeks to combine Portuguese talent with art, through an interpretation of the historic moment by Teresa Rego. The freedom represented by the hands of the new generation artist is present in an illustration that celebrates April without barriers or restrictions. The illustration comes to life on the bottle, the label, the back label and on the individual box. It depicts values such as cheerfulness, joviality, and vibrancy, through colors that together bring to life a relaxed and bold deconstruction of the date.
A visual identity that both challenges and responds to the Barros identity and the April celebrations. A work that aims to be a scenic counterpoint: serenity in confrontation with the power of the date, a concept that is open to everyone's interpretation. A living tribute to the courage of a people and the beauty of freedom of thought. And of creation.
Recognized nationally and internationally with awards for excellence, the 1974 vintage results in a bright, light amber wine. The nose is rich and enveloping, dominated by the opulent aromas of prunes and almonds and it has a silky, delicate texture. On the palate, the dried fruit and the finesse of the spices stand out, very well integrated with the notes of wood. It's a well-structured, elegant wine with a delicious, persistent finish.
Each bottle and individual box of this collection, which is also illustrated, is a tribute to the revolutionary style that transformed Portugal and an invitation to all those who wish to appreciate and celebrate history through an iconic vintage.
A Barros tribute to true Portuguese talent.
Limited edition and exclusive, it is a unique collector's item.
