Founded in 1905 by a group of five ceramic workers, Aleluia Ceramics was created to produce domestic and decorative tableware, complementing its activity with the small-scale manufacture of tiles marked by a strong artistic component. What began as an initiative by artisans would become one of the most emblematic companies in Portugal's ceramic sector.
Aleluia Ceramics showed, since its early years, an unusual ability to adapt to market demands. Its journey has always been guided by a DNA rooted in innovation, modernity, and the strategic vision of its leaders, characteristics that have enabled the brand to navigate diverse economic and industrial contexts.
In the early decades of the 20th century, the company followed the main international trends, focusing on hand-painted pieces inspired by Art Nouveau. Collaboration with renowned local artists resulted in tiles painted in blue, white, and sepia tones, giving its creations a distinctive aesthetic identity and high quality.
At the same time, technological modernization became a priority. The company was among the first to adopt dry tile manufacturing and stood out for installing the first series of Faure machines, from Limoges, France, for preparing white paste. It also introduced the first mechanical press with a modern system, enhancing production efficiency and product consistency.
