Prime Minister Luís Montenegro visited the Portuguese Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka. He highlighted the importance of Portugal's presence at the Expo, themed "Ocean: The Blue Dialogue," reinforcing the country's role in promoting the Blue Economy and Portuguese innovation on the international stage.
The Minister of State and Foreign Affairs, Paulo Rangel, the Minister of Economy and Territorial Cohesion, Manuel Castro Almeida, Portugal's Commissioner General, Joana Gomes Cardoso, and the President of AICEP, Madalena Oliveira e Silva, all accompanied the visit. Madalena Oliveira e Silva emphasised:
"We have received very positive feedback from all involved. Portugal's presence in Osaka generates visibility, recognition, and concrete opportunities for companies, institutions, and the Portuguese brand. This event goes beyond cultural promotion, aligning with the strategy to diversify Portuguese exports to a sophisticated market like Japan. We believe it will be an investment with real impact for the country."

So far, the Portuguese Pavilion has welcomed 1.8 million visitors – over 10% of all Expo attendees – hosted 360 events, engaged 460 organisations, and received more than 180 delegations from 55 countries.
This visit was part of the Prime Minister's official trip to Japan, during which he also announced in Tokyo the creation of a strategic partnership between Portugal and Japan. The partnership aims to strengthen bilateral ties and foster development in key areas such as security and defence, new technologies, energy, and scientific knowledge sharing among academic institutions.
