An AI app dedicated to professional networking was one of many innovations unveiled at this year’s Portugal Digital Summit 2025 – the largest digital economy event of its kind in Portugal.
Held last week (October 22 and 23) at the Lisbon Congress Centre and organised by the Portuguese Association of the Digital Economy (ACEPI) in partnership with GoingNext, the event ran over two days with Artificial Intelligence taking centre stage as the main topic.
Among the highlights of the 2025 edition was the introduction of a smart matchmaking app, developed in collaboration with Augusta Labs, which uses an AI agent to facilitate professional connections between participants. This tool aims to optimise networking by connecting people with aligned goals and interests, and was available throughout the event.
It was the first time that a national event integrated this type of technology applied to creating contact networks between sector professionals.
The afternoon session on the first day was closed by the Minister of State Reform, Gonçalo Matias, who outlined the challenges and opportunities for digital transformation in Portugal, his participation enhancing the strategic dimension of the event for the national ecosystem.
Under the theme ‘Reinventing Business in the Age of AI’, the programme was spread over 11 themed stages where topics like AI, Internet of Things (IoT), cybersecurity and sustainable innovation were discussed.
The themes reflected those technology areas that have had the most impact in reconfiguring business models.
The organizers estimate that more than 2,000 professionals, among specialists, business leaders, technology professionals and movers and shakers, took part in or listened to 150 presentations and panel discussions.
The aim was to provide a wide and overall vision about how companies are adapting to remain competitive in a digital economy.
According to ACEPI, the event aims to establish itself as a space for training and sharing, helping companies and professionals take advantage of technology in a targeted and effective way.
To this end, it was not only about exhibiting technological solutions but also about creating moments of contact and exchange of experiences.
