Mota-Engil has won the auction for the construction of the tunnel connecting the Brazilian cities of Santos and Guarujá, according to CNN Brasil.

The concession contract, which the Portuguese construction company competed for against Spain’s Acciona, covers the construction, operation, and maintenance — over 30 years — of what will be Brazil’s first immersed tunnel. The project is valued at around €1.1 billion.
