Julius Bär is planning to open an office in Lisbon for its Julius Baer Europe Ltd. business areas before the end of 2025, as detailed in a press release. The office, located on Avenida da Libertade 196 in the heart of the Portuguese capital, will in the future strengthen the bank’s proximity to its affluent Portuguese client base.
Since 2019, these customers have been managed by a senior team from the bank’s Madrid office, which is responsible for developing the Portuguese market. Under the leadership of José Maria Cazal-Ribeiro, the Julius Bär team has recorded steady growth in the Portuguese market, which has now necessitated the opening of a dedicated office in Portugal.
The senior team, which will move into the new premises in Lisbon at the beginning of 2026, will remain in place with the aim of upholding continuity in terms of business operations. “We are excited to set up our own local presence in Lisbon and continue to rely on our strong leadership team for the market in Portugal. With this move, we are showcasing our ongoing commitment to this promising growth market. By further increasing our network, we are also strengthening our position as a leading wealth manager in Europe. I very much look forward to continuing to build on the success of the team”, comments Carlos Recoder, Co-Head Region Western Markets & Switzerland, in the press release.
Headquartered in Zurich, Julius Bär focuses on servicing and advising affluent customers. The European subsidiary Julius Baer Europe Ltd. operates out of offices in Dublin, Madrid, Barcelona and Milan.
