The May issue of Portugalglobal magazine, published by AICEP – the public entity coordinating Portugal’s presence at Expo 2025 Osaka – is fully dedicated to this major international event.
Nearly five centuries after the arrival of the Portuguese in Japan in 1543, Portugal returns to celebrate a long-standing relationship of cultural and economic exchange, while also looking to the future. The current edition highlights this legacy as well as the economic opportunities being explored in key sectors such as mobility, life sciences, defence and the blue economy. These topics will be addressed in a series of economic seminars to be held at the Portuguese Embassy in Tokyo.
The magazine features interviews with leading figures, including Joana Gomes Cardoso, Commissioner-General for Portugal at the Expo, who describes the national participation as a moment filled with “emotion” and a clear sense of positive impact.
