Cimpor, a Portuguese concrete maker subsidiary of Taiwan Cement, has announced a $175.19m investment in modernising Kiln 7 and establishing a new research and development (R&D) centre.
The new R&D centre will serve as a hub for innovation in sustainable construction, materials science, and digital transformation. It will develop solutions that minimise the environmental impact of construction. The building will incorporate green cement made from calcined clay (LC³), which significantly reduces CO2 emissions, as well as recycled aggregates to lower the extraction of natural resources.
