Viplant has expanded from the Algarve to Europe, and the international business now accounts for 65 per cent of its activity. The company stands out for its quality, innovation and sustainability, reinforcing its position as a benchmark in the ornamental plant sector. With rising export sales, Viplant is ready to bloom this spring.
Viplant was founded in 1987 in the Algarve, where the climate and light favour the flourishing of plants. Initially, the company aimed to fill the lack of ornamental plants in landscaping in the Algarve, but it soon grew and extended its activities to Portugal. As the company grew, there was a need to expand its presence, which led to the creation of garden centres in Oeiras and Vilamoura. Today, Viplant is a reference not only in Portugal, but also in Europe, where it is recognised for the quality of its plants and the rigour of its service.
Viplant produces one and a half million plants a year, with more than a hundred varieties, which is a logistical and technical challenge that requires a balance between mechanisation and human intervention. "The quality of the plant and the quality of the service provided has been built and continues to be built", says Frederico Pinheiro Chagas, one of the company's managing partners. The success is based on a management model that combines leadership, organised processes and a highly committed team.
