The December edition of Portugalglobal Magazine is now available and is fully dedicated to Web Summit 2025, with a strong focus on technological trends and on Portugal’s growing strategic role in the global innovation landscape.
At the opening session of the tenth edition of the Web Summit, founder Paddy Cosgrave set the tone for the event, highlighting artificial intelligence as a central theme, alongside the impact of United States tariffs and the technological development of China. These topics quickly established themselves as key points of discussion, reflecting the rapid transformation of the global economy.
One of the most significant announcements came from Microsoft, which revealed a ten billion dollar investment in a data centre in Sines, in partnership with Start Campus and Nscale. This major project positions Portugal as a strategic artificial intelligence hub within the European Union, with a direct impact on technological competitiveness and foreign investment.
This edition includes in depth interviews with Artur Pereira, country manager of Web Summit in Portugal and Brazil, and with Alexandre Santos, president of Startup Portugal.
Several Portuguese startups that stood out at the event are also featured. Enhanced Fertility, winner of Road 2 Web Summit, develops technology to support fertility treatments. Granter won the Web Summit Pitch competition, while Teemy gained recognition with a technological solution dedicated to territorial discovery.
This edition’s market analysis is dedicated to the Netherlands, described as a demanding and highly competitive market, yet open to supply opportunities and partnerships with Portuguese companies.
Special supplement, Expo 2025 Osaka
