The EU-Canada Mutual Recognition Agreement (MRA) for Authorised Economic Operators (AEO) programmes officially enters into force, which will further facilitate trade and strengthen customs cooperation between the two regions.
This agreement helps to streamline customs processes and enhance supply chain security for businesses for both sides of the Atlantic, recognising the EU's AEO programme and Canada's Partners in Protection (PIP) initiative, helping to streamline customs processes and enhance supply chain security for businesses on both sides of the Atlantic. Being authorised under either programme boosts a trader's reputation as a secure and reliable partner, enhancing marketability and brand strength. This improved reputation stems from the rigorous vetting and compliance requirements of the programmes, which signal to partners and regulators that the company meets high standards for safety, reliability, and trustworthiness.
Furthermore, The MRA assists businesses in managing complex global logistics while maintaining higher security standards. It also facilitates EU-Canada trade by aligning with the World Customs Organization's (WCO) SAFE Framework and complements the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA).
