Almadesign began with bus design through a partnership with the Salvador Caetano Group, but quickly expanded into other mobility and transport sectors. Today, the company participates in various international projects to improve passenger experience and make transport more sustainable.
Several projects stand out in Almadesign's history. Rui Marcelino, CEO and founder of the company, recalls the renovation of the Alfa Pendular train, the design of the solar-powered catamaran in collaboration with Sunconcept, and Portugal's first electric ferry, devel ped with ETE. In the aeronautical industry, Almadesign contributed to the renewal of the TAP fleet and the design of Alice, the first fully electric passenger aircraft.
With pioneering projects such as the zeroemission e.City Gold and H2.City Gold city buses and the Cobus Vega, an electric airport bus, Almadesign has contributed to positive changes in urban mobility, making cities more sustainable and efficient. "For each project, the company analyses the objectives and needs of all stakeholders in the mobility ecosystem – passengers, manufacturers, drivers and maintenance teams – and works closely with engineering and marketing teams to develop innovative vehicle designs, such as the hydrogen-powered H2.City Gold", explains Rui Marcelino.
