Neuraspace and the Portuguese Air Force have announced their collaboration to enhance airspace safety and security as well as space sustainability. The partnership also marks the installation and use of Neuraspace’s first and fully operational optical telescope installed at Air Base No. 11, in Beja, Portugal.
Neuraspace’s optical telescope is also part of the “AI fights Space Debris” project under Portugal’s Recovery and Resilience Plan under funding from the European Commission. The new telescope adds value to Neuraspace’s Space Traffic Management Platform as an exclusive product for satellite operators, with support from artificial intelligence and machine learning. Furthermore, the telescope’s design will see it perform safe space operations and avoid collisions with space debris and other satellites.
The joint effort between the Portuguese Air Force and Neuraspace aims to develop Portugal’s space situational awareness and space surveillance and tracking capabilities together with its specialization in support of advancing space safety. As a result, the partnership aims to optimize space data analysis using Neuraspace’s telescope together with the company’s artificial intelligence capabilities. Neuraspace can consequently correlate the data it collects and gathers from different sources with multiple partners to reinforce the information for its client operators.
Speaking about the collaboration, the Chief of Staff of the Air Force, General Cartaxo Alves, said “This partnership with Neuraspace is part of the Air Force’s space capability strategy, which will support space situational awareness and thus contribute to Space INTEL, which will leverage information superiority and, inherently, operational value.”
Likewise, Chiara Manfletti, CEO of Neuraspace said: “The launch of our new optical telescope is a significant advancement for Neuraspace, our customers, partners and stakeholders. This event marks an important milestone in our journey to grow as a global leader in space safety and sustainability.”
