World Finance magazine has recognised a select group of companies that stand out for sustainability in their fields of activity, whose achievements have led to their distinction in the 2024 Sustainability Awards.
Now in their 6th edition, these prestigious awards celebrate companies that put sustainability at the forefront of their business operations.
Corticeira Amorim, world leader in the cork industry, has been recognised in the wine industry for its significant efforts to integrate Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) values in this segment.
As the world's leading producer of cork stoppers for wine and spirits, Amorim Cork is a crucial element in maintaining the value chain that makes the whole sustainability narrative associated with cork oak forests viable. With 15 published life cycle studies, the highly beneficial contribution of these products has been clearly demonstrated and quantified at a social, economic and environmental level. In this last chapter, it is worth highlighting cork's ability to retain significant amounts of CO2, which makes an important contribution to decarbonising the wine industry.
The awards cover 30 industries, from coffee processing to financial services. Although the winners operate in different fields, they are all united by their commitment to a sustainable future.
