Tradition and modernity are among the words that best define Portuguese olive oil. In 2023, more than 400 Portuguese companies in the sector exported around 1.1 billion euros, and in the first nine months of 2024, Portuguese olive oil exports increased by 57% compared to the same period in the previous year.
World Olive Tree Day, recognised by UNESCO since 2019, was celebrated on 26 November. Portugal, the world’s fifth-largest olive oil exporter, has reasons to celebrate.

The market in focus is Brazil. The Brazilian market is one of the main destinations for Portuguese olive oil, with exports expected to grow by 17.6% between 2022 and 2023. This growth reflects the strengthening of bilateral economic relations, driven by greater consumer awareness and innovation in the sector.
