The undisputed leader of the most exported goods from Portugal to Brazil, olive oil is an example of the renewed dynamic that bilateral economic relations are experiencing. The success of this traditional product is due to several factors, such as increased consumer knowledge, greater supervision and a large investment.
Olive oil sets the pace for the success of Portuguese exports to Brazil. In the last four years, it has accounted for almost a third of Portuguese exports, and in the first six months of 2024, it will exceed 40 per cent. According to ComexStat/MDIC data on Brazil’s foreign trade, almost 60 per cent of Brazil’s olive oil imports in 2023 came from Portugal. This success is underpinned by Brazilian consumers’ recognition of the product’s quality.
