Capgemini has released its 'TechnoVision Top 5 Tech Trends to Watch in 2025', highlighting advances that will reshape industries around the world. The report highlights the transformative role of artificial intelligence (AI), particularly generative AI (Gen AI), which is expected to drive advances across multiple sectors.
Pascal Brier, Chief Innovation Officer at Capgemini, said: "In 2025, we see AI and Gen AI having a major impact on business priorities and also on many adjacent technology areas, such as robotics, supply chains or tomorrow's energy mix."
The evolving technology landscape highlights significant progress in several areas. Generative AI is moving from isolated tools to connected agents, enabling autonomous decision-making in complex scenarios. Cybersecurity is adapting to counter increasingly sophisticated generative AI-enabled cyber threats, with AI-driven defences at the forefront. In robotics, generative AI is driving the development of more autonomous and adaptive machines, revolutionising the field. Meanwhile, there is a renewed focus on nuclear energy, with small modular reactors (SMRs) emerging as a key solution to rising energy demand. Supply chains will also benefit from advanced technologies such as blockchain and satellite connectivity, improving resilience and sustainability.
Looking beyond 2025, transformative technologies such as engineering biology, quantum computing and artificial general intelligence (AGI) will shape the future. Engineering biology promises innovations such as personalised mRNA vaccines and protein design, with molecular assembly and genomic therapies expected to mature by 2030. Quantum computing is advancing rapidly, with proofs of concept expected to expand by 2025, while AGI is sparking debate about its potential to rival human intelligence, with maturity expected by 2030, but its ultimate impact remains uncertain.
