The new hub will support Pictet’s digital transformation by delivering advanced software services, replicating the success of its Luxembourg operations. Pictet Technologies Portugal (PTP) plans to hire over 150 IT professionals within five years, tapping into Portugal’s strong tech talent and strategic location.

Génération, a leading French company, is further expanding its presence in Portugal by opening a new office in Coimbra, following successful establishments in Lisbon and Leiria. The new office is expected to create 200 new jobs by the end of the year, bringing the total number of employees across the three locations to 600.

Two new calls for investment and R&D are now open under the contractual regime of the Portugal 2030 framework, providing financial support for eligible investment projects. The call for productive investment projects will be open until December 30th, 2025, and for R&D activities until January 5th, 2026. These initiatives aim to attract high-impact projects that strengthen Portugal’s competitiveness, innovation capacity, and sustainable growth.

21% of the employed population in Portugal is working remotely
According to the latest data from Statistics Portugal, nearly 1.1 million people were working remotely in Q1 2025, either fully or in hybrid mode — accounting for 21% of the country’s employed population. This trend confirms Portugal’s strong positioning as a remote work–friendly country, supported by robust digital infrastructure, high quality of life, and a flexible yet secure labour law framework.
