The centre will play an important role in driving the Group’s technological transformation through the development of evolving platforms, enhancement of business applications, and advancement of data and AI capabilities, in order to evolve the luxury retail experience.

The new Tech Hub will focus on process intelligence, AI analytics, and process improvement, supporting its growth across sectors like healthcare, manufacturing, insurance, banking, retail, and aviation. The Hub will also create high-skilled jobs in data science and digital transformation.

Körber expands industrial footprint in Portugal

Körber Business Area Supply Chain celebrated the groundbreaking of its newest manufacturing facility in Santo Tirso, Portugal. The site will boost Körber’s logistics and manufacturing capacity, focusing on advanced supply chain technologies and integrating mechanical, electrical, and software automation. It will also include an R&D space for innovation and prototyping. Körber plans to employ over 400 staff members, creating jobs across Customer Service, Engineering, R&D, Manufacturing, Logistics, QA, Procurement, Project Management, Solution Design, and Sales.

As Europe accelerates grid upgrades to meet growing electrification needs, the Danish power cable manufacturer NKT, which acquired SolidAl in June 2024, is investing €50 million to expand capacity at its Esposende site in northern Portugal, where it currently employs 430 people. The move aligns with NKT’s strategy to unify operations under a single global brand, enhancing its market position across Portugal, Spain, France, Ireland, and the UK.

HBK FiberSensing, a division of the British company HBK (Hottinger Brüel & Kjær), inaugurated a new facility in Porto area. Opened in May 2025, the new site is five times larger than the previous one and will serve as a key European hub for OEM sensor production and strain gauge finishing. HBK FiberSensing specializes in fibre optic sensing and structural monitoring solutions, supporting industries such as aerospace, energy, and civil engineering.

Dashlane expands in Lisbon with new office

French software company Dashlane opened a new office in Lisbon, reinforcing its commitment to Portugal as a key growth hub. After eight years and 100 hires, the company plans to expand further, with ongoing recruitment in Engineering, Product, and Customer Support. CEO John Bennett praised the local talent and tech ecosystem as key drivers of this long-term investment.

The international conference “The Two-Wheel Sector in Europe: Present and Future”, held on 28 May at BIKiNNOV - Bike Value Innovation Centre Association in Águeda, highlighted innovation in Portugal’s two-wheel sector and its shift from OEM to ODM models. Organized by ABIMOTA, the event gathered industry leaders and experts from across Europe, including speakers from Conebi, ZIV, and AMBE. A panel featuring SRAMPORT, Triangles, Decathlon, Polisport, Rodi, and the University of Coimbra.
Airbus and Critical Software start collaboration
Airbus and Portuguese company Critical Software have signed a Letter of Intent to create a joint venture focused on developing embedded, safety-critical software for aerospace applications. The initiative aims to strengthen long-term capabilities in avionics, cabin systems, and connectivity, responding to the growing complexity and digitalisation of aerospace systems. The proposed venture would bring together Airbus’ aerospace leadership and Critical Software’s expertise in certified embedded software.
Neoen has inaugurated Portugal’s largest solar park, a 272MWp installation comprising the Rio Maior (204MWp) and Torre Bela (68MWp) solar farms near Azambuja. Fully operational since late 2024, the facility generates over 500GWh each year, enough to power 110,000 households.
