Portugal Open for Business: Springer Nature invests in new IT hub in Portugal
In July 2020, Springer Nature - home to some of the largest names in research publishing including Nature Research, Springer, BMC and Palgrave Macmillan - opened a new IT hub in Lisbon, Portugal’s capital city. Since then they have hired over 20 new employees, with more to follow in the upcoming months. In the longer-term there are plans to expand the Lisbon team further, with a clear focus on IT and digital specialist roles, making it a main hub for Springer Nature in southern Europe.
Digital technology and the ability to implement innovative new systems and workflow are crucial for Springer Nature. Lisbon was identified as a hotspot for the skills and expertise that it needs to support the research publishing enterprise.
Springer Nature is the publisher behind the world's most influential scientific journal, Nature, home to more than 3,000 scientific journals and, in 2019, published more than 13,000 books and 340,000 research articles.
