The Portuguese economy grew by 6.7% in 2022, "the highest since 1987", according to the flash estimate released today by the National Institute of Statistics (INE).

The 6.7% growth of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in 2022 is one-tenth below the Government's forecast, since the Minister of Finance, Fernando Medina, had stated at the end of December, that Portugal would end “the year 2022 with a [economy] growth of around 6.8%”.

This rate is, however, above the 6.5% estimated in the State Budget for 2023 (OE2023), which was submitted to parliament last October.
