The Serra da Estrela ski resort - the only one in Portugal - opened two slopes this morning, Thursday, January 5, using artificially produced snow.

The opening was scheduled for 10 December, but ended up being postponed indefinitely due to weather conditions.

"Good morning. 2 slopes open (Cântaro and Covão). We continue to produce snow to open more slopes tomorrow", states the ski resort on social media.

The resort manages 22 slopes, with four levels of difficulty (ranging from 'Very easy' to 'Very difficult'). Both the Covão slope, which is 229 metres long, and the Cântaro slope, which is 155 metres long, are classified as 'Very Easy'.
