With 53 wind farms, eight solar farms and seven regional offices spread throughout North America, EDP Renováveis has developed over 7500 MW and operates over 7200 MW in renewable energy projects. In the state of Illinois, the EDP group company is the largest owner and operator of seven wind farms in total, with an operating capacity of 1201 MW, which allows it to supply 412,000 families.
The most recent acquisition for EDP Renováveis’ portfolio across the Atlantic is the Harvest Ridge wind farm, which has now begun producing clean energy in Douglas County, Illinois. With 200 MW of installed capacity, it is already fully operational and will save over 1,343 billion litres of water every year and avoid carbon emissions from fossil fuel plants, which are the largest contributors to climate change.
Through long-term power purchase and sale contracts (PPA), Wabash Valley Power Alliance (WVPA), Walmart and a private off-taker have acquired respectively 100 MW, 50 MW and 50 MW of wind farm capacity.
Besides Harvest Ridge, EDP Renováveis’ portfolio includes the 205 MW Bright Stalk Wind Farm in McLean County, the 100 MW Rail Splitter Wind Farm in Tazewel County and Logan County, the 300 MW Top Crop Wind Farm in LaSalle County and Grundy County and the 398 MW Twin Groves Wind Farm in McLean County.
