With more than 16 000 employees in 38 countries, Natixis has a number of areas of expertise that are organized into four main business lines: Asset & Wealth Management, Corporate & Investment Banking, Insurance and Payments.
According to the company's Strategic Plan, which looks at technological innovation and digitization as a top priority, Natixis decided to internalize some of its IT services, hitherto provided by external suppliers or geographically dispersed teams, with a view to internalizing expertise on core activities, increasing the specialized workforce, optimizing IT costs and improving operational risk management.
In this way, in 2016, Natixis embarked on a nearshoring approach for technology services, which resulted in the development of an IT Center of Expertise in Porto that provides innovative solutions for Natixis business operations worldwide, in an integrated, inclusive and transversal way. The decision to install Natixis IT Center of Expertise in Portugal was the result of several studies and assessments in different European countries, for instance, Spain, Romania and Poland, based on the following criteria: Education, Innovation & Entrepreneurship, Cultural fit with France and International Background/Mindset.
Natixis IT Center of Expertise in Porto endorses the attractiveness of Portugal as an ecosystem of entrepreneurship and innovation, with competitive advantages, not only from the perspectives of infrastructure and technological integration, but also from the human capital profile: graduated from top universities, highly qualified in science and technology, multilingual and with an international professional culture.
This was one of the major investments in human resources made by the company ever. With a current team of more than 550 employees, Natixis in Portugal aims to create, by 2020, 700 new jobs in the areas of information technology in Portugal.
